Yesterday (October 29), she shared a picture of her in a tight hug with the ‘Tekno’ singer. It seems Chidinma has fallen for Tekno as she wrote “Me and bae.”                                Chidinma, Tekno (Instagram ) Tekno also shared a video of the two of them fooling around. Chidinma and Tekno look like they have chemistry. Maybe this ‘fling’ might lead to a full blown relationship. If Chidinma really starts dating Tekno it will contradict what she said during her exclusive interview with Onikewide recently. In the interview, Chidinma said she does not fancy celebrity relationships. "I'm actually not a fan of celebrity relationships. I don't know how others feel about it, but for me I am not a big fan of it. I just think it is a lot of headache. You are both in the same line of work. Who calms who?" she said.

African football star Eto'o urges help for "unnoticed" Boko Haram victims

Image
DAKAR, Oct 30 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Africa's most decorated footballer Samuel Eto'o has appealed for funding to help people escaping violence in Nigeria and Cameroon and warned that the world is neglecting an escalating humanitarian crisis in West Africa. A six-year campaign by militant group Boko Haram to carve out an Islamist state in northeast Nigeria has killed thousands, uprooted 2.2 million people within the country and driven around 160,000 Nigerians to seek refuge in Cameroon, Chad and Niger. Cross-border raids and suicide bombings by suspected Boko Haram forces have displaced more than 80,000 people over the last year in Cameroon's Far North region, which is also home to 60,000 Nigerian refugees who have fled attacks by the militants since the start of 2013. Yet Cameroon's record goal scorer fears the conflict and ensuing displacement are being ignored as global attention remains fixed upon Europe's burgeoning migration crisis. "There are di

Asset declaration: Court dismisses Saraki’s appeal against CCT

Image
SENATE PRESIDENT The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday dismissed an appeal filed by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, challenging the legality of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to try him for alleged false declaration of assets. The court’s three-man panel led by Adumein Moore dismissed the Senate President’s argument that the CCT has no constitutional jurisdiction to handle the criminal charges preferred against him. “The CCT is a court of criminal jurisdiction, albeit with limited jurisdiction. “The immediate question is whether it is a court or not. There is no inherent difference between a court and a tribunal. The only difference is that tribunals in most cases handle special cases. “The tribunal has power to impose sanctions according to the law. It is a court with specific criminal jurisdiction,” the court said.

Christian Woman Beaten To Death By Muslims For Preaching Gospel

Image
A Christian woman has been beaten to death in Uganda by a mob of Muslims because she and her family had not heeded their warning to stop preaching the gospel. Her brother-in-law was killed last month for the same reason. Mamwikomba Mwanika, a mother of eight children, was taken from her home in Kalampete village in Kibuku District and killed last week. She opened the door of her home to a mob of Muslims who demanded to see her husband, also a Christian, saying: “Your husband has followed the religion of his brother, and we had warned you people to stop these activities, but our message has landed on deaf ears.” Mwanika’s husband, George Mwanika, was not at home which angered the mob. His brother, Samson Nfunyeku, was killed in the same village last month for debating with Islamic scholars. Mwanika’s 13-year-old daughter said “the mob then “dragged our mother outside the house as she screamed and cried for help.” She was later found in a pool of blood about 100 metres from her home by

Nigeria's central bank weakens naira FX peg at interbank

Image
LAGOS Oct 30 (Reuters) - Nigeria's central bank weakened its exchange rate peg to 197 to the dollar on the interbank market on Friday, down from 196.97 on Monday, traders said. Traders said the regulator set the new rate for market closing price on Thursday, making this the 11th adjustment since the bank introduced tight currency controls in February. The central bank has resorted to adjusting the rate on the local currency since pegging it to the dollar in February and abolishing two-way naira quotes to help conserve forex reserves. Traders said the present method of exchange rate fixing has led to an erosion of the country's forex reserves, which stood at $30.13 billion as of Oct. 27, down from $30.38 billion a month earlier. The central bank has resisted calls to further devalue the naira in the face of a plunge in vital oil revenues. But the bank has continued to intervene periodically to provide forex liquidity support for the local currency. It also sells dollars twice-

Nigerian senate president loses bid to halt corruption trial

Image
Abuja - Nigeria's court of appeal on Friday threw out a bid from the country's senate president to stop his corruption trial for alleged false declaration of assets. The three-member panel dismissed the appeal from Bukola Saraki that the Code of Conduct Tribunal was not properly constituted and lacked competence to hear the proceedings. As leader of the upper chamber of parliament, Saraki is Nigeria's third most senior politician behind President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. The case is being seen as a litmus test for Buhari's governing All Progressives Congress (APC), who came to power in May on a vow to crack down hard on corruption. Saraki was arraigned last month before the tribunal on a 13-count charge alleging false declaration of assets while he was governor of the north central state of Kwara. He denied the charges and the case was adjourned pending the appeal. Saraki's lawyer, Mahmud Mogaji, told the judges on Friday they will challe

PPPRA issues fuel allocation for Q4 despite payment concerns

Image
The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has issued allocations for imports of some 1.8 million tonnes of petrol for the fourth quarter, despite concerns over the federal government’s ability to pay for outstanding subsidy payments, Reuters reports. The provisional figure, issued individually to companies this week, is on par with the final tally the PPPRA issued for the third quarter. But traders said only 50-60 percent of those allocations were filled as companies struggled to access the financing they need due to the delayed subsidy payments.
