Violence against Biafra people must stop

Editor’s note: There has been series of violence in the south east region of the country especially in the course of the agitation for Biafra.

In this opinion, Richard Izuchukwu Oragwuncha highlights some violent incidents against Igbo people and that the people cannot continue to be sacrificed for the country to be unified.
Losing a child
The pains of losing a child or a loved one is to be equated with the loss of one’s part of his or her body. It remains unforgettable as it is that anytime you want to see who or what you have, you will only remember that you once had it but never again. An Igbo adage says, “eburu ozu onye’ozo, odi ka ebu ukwu nku” if the corpse of another is being carried across it seemed to be a log of wood to the observers. It looks like a fairy tale, but it is true that hundreds were massacred in Nimbo community of Enugu state by Hausa-Falani herdsmen. The unstoppable tears of their relatives on the day they were buried will remind anyone of the similar incident that took place across Nigeria in 1966. The 1966 pogrom which ushered in the Nigeria-Biafra civil war was as a result of such an unnecessary killing of the easterners. This disheartening situation called for a restructuring of the so called Nigerian state to avoiding its repetition and Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu for his peace loving nature, advocated for a meeting in Aburi.
In Aburi , a regional system of government was agreed upon only for a total rejection of it all by the North and the West  on returning to Nigeria and its aftermath was almost if not a total extermination of the Easterners and up until now, it continued and even in a more humiliating manner. Fulani-herdsmen of a name is only a shadow under which these terrorists hide so as to being able to defending their course at all time. They are agents of destruction sent against the Biafrans by the murderous British-Nigerian government for a continued killing of the Biafrans until they are exterminated from the surface of the earth. If not so, what have the British and the international community at large said so far about the killings? And what have the Nigerian federal government done about it.
Who will save Biafra?
I once wrote an article titled, IN THE FACE OF ANIHILATION, WHAT HAVE THE ELITES DONE? As if no one is seeing the injustice, as if no one cares because it didn’t affect them directly but time shall tell because, the more you try to threaten a child, the stronger he is becoming as time goes by. Biafrans must not continue to die so that Nigeria may remain one. The Igbo leaders have kept mute and kept showing off a cowardice facial but we must all remember and I quote philosophically, “when the mud houses of the poor have been smashed by an invading enemy, it will make way for the same enemy to seeing the block houses of the rich” no man is larger than life for we were all created equal by God. Irrespective of our earthly status, man remains man and nothing is attached.
This newly invented strategy to annihilate the Biafrans by the British/North-Nigerian politicians is absurd and not until the eastern elite stand’s to put an end to it, they remain a part and parcel of the hideous proceedings. I wonder what is the worth of their reward in watching all these happen. This is why we can hardly find the likes of Ojukwu among our leaders today because they have continued practicing selfishly and careless about their supposed subjects. Appreciable legacy that will live for eternity is greater than a selfish gathering of the earthly wealth that will be left behind to perish in no time.
In recent time, there have been such malicious killings of Biafran agitators by the law enforcement agents and Nigerians and the world at large only watched as it continued. This is not about an argument, these attackers are well trained terrorist meant to attack, intimidate and possibly create an avenue to an easy Islamization plot. But at all cost, the Biafrans will resist such.Since the supposed appreciation to the Biafrans for the peaceful co-existence in Nigeria is a continuous and unjust killings and the destruction of their properties, we all must not forget, that God fights for the innocent and always will fight for the Biafran people. We will always live just as the children of Israel in the midst of the middle-east. We will always survive herein God provided for our survival and nothing, not even any man borne of a woman can deny the Biafrans such a natural right. When a child has been chased until the end of the walls, he returns to counter attack. The earlier we go our separate ways, the better for all of us.
