BREAKING-JTF arrests 555 suspects, destroys 988 illegal refineries in 6 months

The Joint Task Force (JTF) military operation in the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Save, said it has arrested 555 suspects

involved in oil theft, while 988 illegal refining and militants’ camps had been destroyed in six months.

The operation, which covers the nine states of Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross River and others, was carried out between March 19th and September 9th 2019.

The Commander, OPDS, Real Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade, disclosed this yesterday, during the flag-off ceremony of Operation Safety Check 6 in Okrika, Rivers State.

In his speech, Akinrinade said the operation is aimed at stepping up the tempo in the joint operation area as the year gradually comes to an end.

The Commander said the objective of the operation is to sustain the successes recorded so far and improve on operational efforts to deny criminal elements within the joint task force area.
