Everything You've Ever Wanted to Know About Vaginal Odor

If you’ve ever looked down and asked yourself, “Why does it smell like that?

” then you aren’t alone. There is nothing more embarrassing than having an odor down below. Constantly worrying about your Vibe and if there is something wrong with you is something almost every woman thinks about.

We’ve put together a complete guide to some of the vaginal odors you might experience, and how to get rid of unwanted smells in a healthy, natural way. It won’t smell like perfume and roses all the time, but there are some scents that you’ll want to be aware of.

HOW DOES YOUR VAGINA SMELL?

Your Vibe is an amazing self-cleaning oven, and discharge is your body’s way of flushing out unhealthy/unwanted bacteria in your body. The amount of discharge is different from woman to woman, and normal discharge colors include white, clear, or tinted yellow. Those odors you’re smelling are usually from your discharge mixed with cells, bacteria, and bodily fluid. The discharge turns yellow or white when it’s exposed to air, which is why you may notice it looks like cream cheese when it’s dried on your underwear.

As long as the discharge isn’t accompanied by itching or a powerful odor, you probably don’t have to worry. When you notice a strong odor from the discharge and have itching, you might have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. Check with your doctor about taking care of it and you should be fine. We use this discharge chart to check our Vibe to see if it’s alright or need to see a doctor.

HOW TO BEST CARE FOR YOUR VIBE:

These are some of the ways we care for ourselves so vaginal odor isn’t a big worry.

1. Wear Cotton Underwear When Possible:

Cotton undies make it difficult for bacteria to build up because your underwear is less likely to hold moisture the bacteria needs to survive

2. Proper Hygiene: Wash with warm water and a small amount of mild, unscented soap

3. Avoid tight-fitting clothing:

We aren’t saying to ditch all your favorite outfits that are perfect on your body. But tighter clothing and thongs can collect fecal matter that can reach the vaginal area, leading to unwanted infections and odors.

4. Consume probiotics:

Probiotics like kombucha or specially-formulated yogurt, can help prevent yeast infections and reduce vaginal odor by keeping your Vibe’s pH balanced.

5. Drink lots of water! Staying hydrated is key to make sure your Vibe is healthy.

6. Sleep Naked: Let your Vibe breathe! Air helps keep your vaginal area cool and reduces the amount of sweat that builds up at night.
