{VIDEO} Tokyo 2020 Table tennis: ''She was too good for me'' - Nigeria's Offiong Edem explains



 Nigeria’s Tennis Singles women representative at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Offiong Edem has

taken to social media to explain, after she was knocked out on Monday by Lily Zhang of the U.S.


Edem lost 4-1 to Lily Zhang of the U.S at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, in spite of winning the first set 15-13.

 


After beating Hungary’s Dora Madarasz in her opening round fixture, Edem failed to maintain the momentum as she fell 2-11 and 2-11 in the next two sets under nine minutes.


The 34-year-old Nigerian did fight back, but she could not stem the tide as she lost 8-11 and 6-11 in the fourth and fifth sets respectively.

Taking to Instagram on Monday morning, July 26, Edem wrote;

 

''She was too good for me to handle its a privilege playing against world no: 30 @lilyyz.

But that notwithstanding I did my very best. I'm very satisfied with my performance.

Dear fans friends & loved ones,I just feel moved to write this, because thanks" doesn't feel like enough to me. If I could hug each and every one of you, I would.

I would like to thank all of you who have fanned me or have spread my name around I really do appreciate that. Also, thank you to those fans who have really given me so much great ideas on and off the table. My beautiful team mate big hug The Coach @Seguntoriola that name rings a ball right? #legendary Thank you,,,,,the love, kindness and support you have shown me fills my heart and give me hope for a better outing..
