NSCDC Arrests 40 Oil T‎hieves, Destroys 106 Illegal Refineries In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday confirmed the arrest of 40 persons over alleged involvement in crude oil theft along the creeks and waterways of the state.

The NSCDC also confirmed the invasion of sites of illegal distillation of stolen crude and destruction of over 106 illegal refineries in the state.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Desmond Agu, while briefing newsmen on the achievements of the command in 2015, said though the achievement was made possible with a robust inter-agency collaboration, adding that the command recorded an appreciable success in its fight against oil theft and other illegalities during the outgoing year.
Agu revealed that the command recovered 10 locally made boats, eight speed boats, one lorry, 10 pumping machines, 20 boat engines and six motorcycles.
Other recovered items, according to the Commandant, were one bus, four taxi cabs, four wheelbarrows, 10 hoses, 55,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and 5,000 litres of Dual Purpose Kerosene.
