Yasiel Puig involved in Reds-Pirates fight

This was quite the send-off for Yasiel Puig,Puig was involved in
a brawl between the Pirates and Reds on Tuesday night only minutes after news broke that Cincinnati had traded the veteran right fielder to the Indians for star pitcher Trevor Bauer as part of a three-team deal that also included the Padres.
Puig was still in the game when Cincinnati reliever Amir Garrett charged the Pirates’ dugout from the mound in the top of the ninth.
Pirates reliever Jared Hughes hit Starling Marte with his first pitch in the ninth inning, setting the stage for the latest dustup between the Ohio River rivals.
Garrett, a former St. John’s basketball player, was in the process of being removed from the game with the Pirates leading (they won 11-4). Earlier in the ninth inning, Garrett was bothered by an up-and-in pitch to Reds outfielder Derek Dietrich from Pirates reliever Keona Kela who was ejected because both sides were warned after Marte was hit. Garrett heard Pirates pitcher Trevor Williams, who did not play in the game, mouthing off from the bench. That chirping set Garrett off.
“I definitely do think they teach that in that organization,” Garrett said of the chin music the Pirates played in the game. “I don’t think it’s right to throw at somebody. That’s not something you should do. If you have a problem, handle it like a man.”
Both dugouts emptied onto the field, and at first Puig tried to calm things down before getting into some pushing and shoving matches himself.
Garrett, who had given up a home run earlier in the inning, and Puig were among those ejected. Puig exited the field to a standing ovation. Reds manager David Bell faces suspension because he ran onto the field to join the fracas after being ejected from the game an inning earlier.
“That’s crazy,” Puig said about the brawl.
