Deranged mass shooter Salvador Ramos reportedly sought fame similar to the true-crime docuseries
“Don’t F–k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer.”While talking to a teen girl on the social media platform Yubo, Ramos brought up the 2019 Netflix show, which is about how a series of gruesome videos posted online prompt a group of amateur sleuths to launch a manhunt for the man behind them, the Sun reported.
Ramos told her he “wanted his name out there” like the twisted poster, Canadian gay porn actor Luka Rocco Magnotta, the teen told the outlet.
Magnotta had initially attracted attention for the videos, which showed him torturing and killing two kittens. But as the online manhunt intensified, Magnotta was arrested in the 2012 killing and dismembering of Chinese student Jun Lin.
The woman who communicated with Ramos on the app said there were other unsettling conversations with him, including regular harassment of other female users.
“He would be active every day and join our lives, repeating girls’ names until they paid attention to him,” said the teen, who wished to remain anonymous.
I have messages from him from early this year. He was around us all for a long time,” she added.
Though he made concerning comments, she said they never thought to save them.
“We just never thought to record the things he said as they were being said. As it’s a livestreaming app, you cannot look up old lives or watch old lives. Everything is in the moment,” she said.
“The moment the shooting became news, there was a live made with over 200 people pulling information from everyone to pass along to police,” the user added.
Ramos also reportedly sent chilling messages to a 15-year-old girl in Germany shortly before he slaughtered 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.
The girl — who goes by the nickname Cece on Yubo but declined to give her real name — told the New York Times that she had met Ramos two weeks before the massacre.
He told her he had just shot his grandmother and was about to “shoot up a elementary school,” according to screenshots provided to the newspaper.
She said Ramos had contacted her from a gun store, where he told her he was buying an AR-15 assault rifle around the time of his May 16 birthday.
Over the next few days, the girl told the Times, Ramos hinted about doing something with the weapon but did not go into specifics about his deranged plans.
On the night before Tuesday’s attack, Cece told the paper, he sent her a photo of a large box that arrived in the mail that he later said contained ammunition that would expand on impact.
She said Ramos also showed her on video a black bag that appeared to contain at least one gun and a large amount of ammo.
On Tuesday morning, the two reportedly communicated on video, where Ramos showed her his all-black outfit — but told her he could not reveal his secret until his grandfather had left the house.
About an hour later, he texted Cece that he was “waiting for” his grandmother, who he said was “on the phone with AT&T” about his cellphone and referred to her with an expletive.
“Ima do something to her rn,” he wrote.
A few minutes later, he added: “I just shot my grandma in her head” and “Ima go shoot up a elementary school rn.”
Cece told the Times that she wondered whether Ramos was being serious about the chilling missives she read — but soon noticed news coverage of the unfolding massacre.
She said she then asked a friend in the US to contact law enforcement about Ramos’ messages.
“Maybe I could’ve changed the outcome. I just could never guess that he’d actually do this,” Cece told the paper as she expressed regret for not acting sooner.
CNN also obtained screenshots of the exchanges between Cece and Ramos.
Ramos had sent her selfies and told her he planned to visit her in Germany. In another exchange, he sent her a flight itinerary from San Antonio to Frankfurt, the network reported.
JkThe exchanges are separate from those he allegedly sent another girl whom Ramos had tagged in an Instagram post displaying the two rifles he had bought.
An Instagram account, with the username “salv8dor_”, believed to be Ramos’, contained photos of guns and selfies. The account has since been taken down.
He allegedly tagged a complete stranger, a user named @epnupues, who told the Daily Beast that Ramos messaged her that he “got a lil secret.” She said she was scared to be tagged in a post about guns.
