The police added that the investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.

It, however, disclosed that the child has been taken into protective custody.

“As criminal proceedings are now underway as we will not be providing further details.”

Meanwhile, former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu had said that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, cannot become the President of Nigeria.

Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, the Enugu lawmaker acknowledged that Obi is a credible candidate and he is from the South East but does not have the mass appeal to win elections.

According to Ekweremadu, the former Anambra State Governor cannot win the 2023 presidential election and the South East cannot afford to throw away their votes.
