{PHOTO} Missing former Nigerian diplomat found dead in US

, Belgium, has been found dead in the US.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Otobo, fondly called Headmaster, had been declared missing since Wednesday, June 15. He was last seen near Dante Avenue, Tuckahoe, New York.

On Friday morning, June 24, Tuckahoe Police announced that Otobo had been found dead on Thursday afternoon, June 23.

“We would like to thank those of you who offered tips and tried to assist with the investigation,” Tuckahoe Police said. “Our thoughts go out to the Otobo family during this difficult time.”

The deceased was the former Director and Deputy Head of the United Nations (UN) Peacebuilding Support Office. He was also a regular contributor for Nigerian newspapers.

Reacting to the news of Otobo’s passing, Roselyn Kwamboka Akombe, a former commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya, wrote on her verified Twitter handle: “Devastated by the passing of a great mentor, writer, governance & peacebuilding expert. You gave Africa your all, Mr. Otobo. We fondly called you Headmaster as we worked with @UNDPAfrica on governance. RIP my mentor.”

Similarly, Said Djinnit, an Algerian diplomat, wrote: “So sad to hear the passing of our friend Ejeviome Eloho Otobo. He was an excellent colleague, always part of the solution. I address my condolences to his family and to the Government of Nigeria.”
