KAYNE WEST CLOSES DONDA ACADEMY
Kanye West abruptly closed the doors to his school, Donda Academy, signaling the end of the school
for the time being as his problems grow as a result of his antisemitic comments.Jason Angell, the principal of the school, sent out an email to the parents of the children advising them that Donda Academy will be closing for the rest of the 2022–2023 school year "at the discretion of our founder, effective immediately."
In a since-deleted Instagram post, Kanye himself commented on the situation. "You've found the clout you need right here. My school is currently being closed." The closure was initially reported by Hollywood Unlocked.
We are certain that our scholars will continue to grow as the creative innovators, influencers, and intellectual leaders of the next generation, Angell wrote in an email to parents, reiterating the school's commitment to reopening in September 2023.
Donda Academy, a non-accredited Christian school, compelled parents to sign non-disclosure agreements before their kids could enroll. There were only approximately 100 total students, with half receiving scholarships from Kanye and his buddies.
Parents whose children did not receive scholarships were required to pay $15,000 annually for their children to enroll. Designer uniforms by Balenciaga and Yeezy were worn by the students.
The shutdown of the school is merely the most recent repercussion of Ye's anti-Jewish remarks. Donda Academy was expelled from a big basketball event, as we previously reported. Along with Aaron Donald and Jaylen Brown announcing they are no longer represented by Donda Sports, he has split with Adidas, Balenciaga, and CAA.
