Bawa, the head of the EFCC, is imprisoned by a court

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was

found guilty of contempt of court by the FCT High Court.

The EFCC was found guilty after refusing to abide by a court order for it to give up a Range Rover and N40 million to the applicant in a lawsuit.

Justice Chizoba Oji ruled that the head of the anti-crime Commission had disobeyed court instructions issued on November 21, 2018.

According to the court decision, EFCC was to give the petitioner back both his Range Rover (Supercharge) and the sum of N40,000,000 (Forty Million Naira).

He shall be confined to the Kuje Correctional Center for his willful disregard of the court's ruling, which was issued on November 21st, 2018, and his continuous disobedience of it, until he absolves himself of the contempt, the court said.

The judge also gave the Inspector General of Police instructions to ensure immediate adherence to the court ruling.

Ojuawo claimed that the EFCC had disregarded the court's November 21, 2018, judgment ordering the release of his seized property in a motion submitted by his attorney, R.N. Ojabo, in a case with the file number FCT/HC/CR/184/2016.
