I look better than you, and your career is over, Ronaldo responds, "jealous." Rooney

In response to Wayne Rooney, the manager of DC United, recently criticizing the former Real Madrid and

Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo has retaliated.

Because Wayne Rooney's career is gone, Ronaldo believes his old Manchester United teammate is being envious.

In a talkSPORT interview, Rooney, who currently oversees Major League Soccer team DC United, wasn't wholly critical of Ronaldo.

The all-time leading scorer for Manchester United believed the Portuguese could still help the team if he "put his head down."

Rooney and Ronaldo spearheaded one of the most aggressive United attacks in five seasons, and the former was upset with Ronaldo for showing disrespect for manager Erik ten Hag by declining to replace Wayne Rooney against Tottenham last month.

The 37-year-old was disciplined by Ten Hag after storming out of the stadium even before the game's finale and down the tunnel before halftime.

Ronaldo's behavior was deemed "inappropriate" by Rooney, who praised the Dutchman for asserting his authority at the club.

Rooney went on to say that the Portuguese attacker was not necessary for United to be a better team.

And in a fiery interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo attacked Rooney for his comments.

I don't understand why he criticizes me so harshly, Ronaldo remarked in an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored. Probably because I'm still playing at a high level while he finished his career.

I won't claim that I look better than he does. which is accurate.
