OkoPoly student kills self in final year due to broken romance

Unknown young man apparently killed himself after ending a relationship, according to reports.

According to a source, the event took place on Friday at Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in the Anambra state's Orumba North Local Government Area.

It was learned that the man, a polytechnic student in his last year, was already completing his Industrial Attachment (IT), a requirement for graduation, when he was dumped by his partner.

The dead was described as "full of energy and life, and an intelligent lad with near to distinction (First class)" by Iyke Orji, a student at the college who revealed this.

He is a Public Administration student who is currently in his IT days, continued Orji. He made the decision to remain in Oko for his one-year industrial training, but rather than concentrating on his education, he made the choice to look for true love.

According to the account, his girlfriend recently broke up with him, which devastated him. On Friday, when he was unable to handle the situation any longer, he reportedly drank sniper insecticide and passed away.

Mr. Chijioke Ibeziakor, the institution's public relations officer, was unavailable to comment on the situation since calls to his mobile phone went unanswered.

As of the time of publication, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the state police command, was unable to corroborate the event.
