Police in Ondo detain the father after he burns five of his stepchildren

 


A 54-year-old father was detained by Ondo State Police Command agents for reportedly setting his

five stepchildren on fire. 

Mr. Joseph Ojo, the suspect, allegedly committed the crime over the weekend at his home in Ondo town's Fagun Crescent axis, the location of the Ondo West Local Council. 

The man allegedly committed the act because his wife—the children's mother—offended him, according to information obtained by ONIKEWIDE 

on fire by pouring gasoline into their chamber while they were sound asleep. 

The children were all rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where they are currently receiving treatment, according to information obtained by The Guardian. One of the children perished as a result of the fire, while the other four were. 

The man's biological children, 18-month-old twins, and their mother both managed to escape the fire with very minor injuries.

The State's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami, verified the arrest of the suspect for murder and arson when contacted. 

Prior to charging the defendant in court, according to the PPRO, an investigation would be conducted.
