The two most looked-up-for Nigerians in 2022 are Oxlade and Asake - GOOGLE

Nigerians looked for the most popular musicians and persons this year, with Oxlade, a

singer and songwriter from Nigeria, topping both lists.

According to Google's 2022 Year in Search lists, which were made public on Wednesday, this is the case.

Asake, an Afrobeat singer belongs to YBNL Nation, reportedly placed second on the list of the most trending musicians.

The top trending movie and television show was Anikulapo, a Nigerian epic fantasy movie with Kunle Remi and Kunle Afolayan as producers.

The 2022 Year in Search lists offer a glimpse into what Nigerians were interested in during a year that saw significant athletic events, notable deaths, and the run-up to Nigeria's election in February 2023.

Nigerians' inquiries include: Who is Peter Obi's running mate? is among the top queries Nigerians made to Google this year, according to the report. Who is the APC's nominee for president?, Atiku's running mate?, the front-runner in the Osun State election?, Tinubu's running mate?, and Peter Obi?

The popularity of entertainment-related search phrases like "Finesse lyrics," "Buga," the Kizz Daniel and Tekno song, and "Will Smith" reveals Nigerians' interest in song lyrics, music, and famous people.

Other popular searches: Casemiro, a Brazilian football player, and the Africa Cup of Nations, often known as AFCON, respectively, topped the lists of top trending searches and top athletes and sports figures. Senegal beat Egypt to win the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, but Nigeria was ousted from the 2022 competition by Tunisia in a 1–0 loss. The Academic Staff Union of Universities' (ASUU) eight-month-long strike put the organization in second place among Nigerians' most popular searches throughout the time period under consideration.
