BREAKING: Hilda Baci shatters the 'Longest Cooking Time' Guinness World Record

Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known by her stage name Hilda Baci, broke the

record for the "longest cooking marathon by an individual" and created history in the process.

On Monday morning (today), Hilda broke the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes established by Lata Tondon, the current holder of the Guinness World Record.

On Thursday at precisely 4 p.m., Hilda turned on her cooker to kick off the competition.

Hilda has continued to cook for a total of 96 hours despite having already shattered the previous record in an effort to become the first person to cook for that long. From government representatives, celebrities, priests, and other well-meaning Nigerians, she has garnered broad recognition and support for her perseverance and enthusiasm for cooking.

Nigerians stood by Hilda throughout the extended cooking session in a show of support, even through a significant downpour early on Monday morning.

Chef Tondon, who had previously held the record for "longest cooking time," emailed Hilda her best wishes before to the competition.
