Nigerian Data Protection Bill 2023 is enacted by President Tinubu

A legal framework for the protection of personal data and

the practice of data protection in Nigeria is provided by the Nigeria Data Protection Act, which was passed in 2023.

This was said by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner of the Nigerian Data Protection Bureau (NDPB), at the validation workshop for the NDPD Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP), according to NAN.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, former President Muhammadu Buhari forwarded a letter containing the measure to the Senate and House of Representatives for review and approval.

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission is established by the new law, which is now an Act, and it takes the place of the NDPB, which the former President Buhari established in February 2022.

A National Commissioner will serve as the organization's head, and their job will be to oversee the handling of personal data.
