Guinness World Records issues a warning, saying, "Enough with record-a-thons."

Nigerians and anyone else trying to break a record or participating in a "record-a-thon" are

encouraged by Guinness World Records to first seek the record title's clearance from its team before starting.

Every year, the British reference work GWR publishes a list of world records for both human accomplishments and the extremes of nature.

Further advice from GWR said, "We love the record-a-thon enthusiasm, but we would suggest getting a record title approved by our team before attempting these marathon records!"

Prior to trying to break any world records, GWR encouraged potential record breakers to fully confirm with the Guinness staff.

This was announced on the Guinness World Records Twitter account.

Just a friendly warning that before doing it, you should probably have our team check your world record title," GWR tweeted.

In June at Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Chef Dammy Adeparusi achieved her goal of 120 hours of cooking to the delight of some and condemnation from others.

Hilda Baci, a second Nigerian chef, had just broken the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual when she made her attempt.

The previous record of 93 hours, 11 minutes was set by Hilda Baci.

Ijeoma passed away while the 72-hour massage marathon effort was still going on in the Ikate, Lekki region of Lagos State, Nigeria.

Ijeoma reportedly worked for more than 36 hours before she passed out.

About 25 hours, 4 minutes is the Guinness World Record for the longest full-body massage.

According to the Ekiti State Government's warning to people, no one should promote the planned kiss-a-thon, which aims to break the Guinness World Record.

Dayo Apata, the state's attorney general and commissioner for justice, issued this warning and said anyone found guilty of promoting the kissing event faced a three-year prison sentence.

Additionally, the commissioner urged the owners of state-owned recreational facilities to reject the invitation to host the event and threatened anyone who did not comply with jail time.

The three-day event was supposed to break the record for the longest kissing marathon, according to the organizers.

It was slated to take place from July 7 to July 10.
