Karim Benzema 'to miss Euro 2016' after Mathieu Valbuena's claims about sex-tape blackmail look set to end Real Madrid striker's international career

Karim Benzema is likely to be left out of France's squad for Euro 2016 over his part in the alleged blackmail of Mathieu Valbuena.
Valbuena said on Friday that France international team-mate Karim Benzema 'indirectly' told him he had to pay a ransom to get back a sex tape of him with his girlfriend. 
And according to French paper L'Equipe the scandal has thrown the Real Madrid star's international future into doubt, with the judicial process likely to see him miss the tournament this summer.

However, the case, currently being investigated in France, could also see Valbuena out of the France squad, accorddng to the paper. 
'The latest revelations of Mathieu Valbuena and judicial timetable make the return of Karim Benzema to the France team very improbable,' wrote L'Equipe on their front page. 'But the international future of the playmaker is also in doubt.'


The story is also prominent in the Spanish press, where Marca claim that Valbuena 'ruins' the Real Madrid striker with his interview.
Elsewhere in Spain Real Madrid are linked with Miralem Pjanic by Marca, who also claim that Barcelona are interested in the Roma playmaker.

The bad news for Rafa Benitez however is that Raphael Varane has been ruled out for six weeks according to various papers.

Tuttosport report that the Spanish club can 'forget it', suggesting that they will be hit with a transfer ban which prevents them signing the striker they sold to Juve 18 months ago.
